Grant Readiness ScoreboardÂ
The Grant Readiness Scoreboard is a strategic self-assessment tool designed to help nonprofit leaders evaluate their organization’s preparedness to pursue and secure grant funding. Developed as part of the Clarity to Capital™framework, this tool guides users through ten essential categories that funders assess when determining organizational capacity and alignment.
Each category—ranging from mission clarity to staff capacity—is scored on a 0 to 5 scale, with a maximum possible score of 50. Users evaluate their current state across areas such as program definition, governance, financial infrastructure, storytelling, strategic planning, and funder research. The accompanying action item prompts help pinpoint specific areas for improvement and growth.
Scoring Breakdown:
-
0–15: Not Yet Ready – Needs foundational work on strategy and systems.
-
16–30: Partially Ready – Has potential but requires refinement in documentation and clarity.
-
31–45: Fundable with Focus – Close to ready; minor adjustments or expert support can make a big difference.
-
46–50: Grant-Ready – Well-positioned to submit compelling proposals and build funding partnerships.
Whether used independently or in consultation with a strategist, the scoreboard delivers clarity on what’s in place and what gaps to address—making it a powerful first step toward becoming truly grant-ready.
